Dinosaur Debate: Arguing Australia's Greatest Archosaur [Online Talk]

  • Found a Fossil New South Wales Australia (map)

Join us for a lively debate as three palaeontologists argue which is the best Australian dinosaur (or pterosaur) and why!

We’ll each be choosing our favourite Australian species (that you may not have ever hear of!) and debating which would win in a fight, who would survive the longest, and which dinosaur should be brought back to life.

Watch the recording here.

Australovenator. Muttaburrasaurus. Leaellanasaura. Ferrodraco.

All incredible fossil species from the Cretaceous environments of Australia. But are they species you’ve ever heard of?

Australia didn’t have T. rex or Triceratops. Instead, we have a whole ecosystem of unique and unusual species that aren’t found anywhere else in the world.

Join us as we discuss a range of Australian dinosaur species before we battle it out to choose which one was the best.

You’ll hear from:

Adele Pentland, pterosaur expert and host of the Pals in Palaeo podcast (and the reason why we had to extend the debate to include non-dinosaur species like pterosaurs).

Jake Kotevski, theropod expert and lover of those cuddly meat-eating dinosaurs with large teeth that would certainly eat us.

And Sally Hurst, creator of the Found a Fossil Project, lover of all dinosaurs but expert in none who still has no idea which dinosaur she’ll choose as her champion.

This event is being put on especially for the Australian Heritage Festival.

A recording of the event will be available via the Found a Fossil Youtube channel after the event.
