How do we dig in different places? How to the fossils change across the world? What is the coolest thing we’ve uncovered?

Join Australian palaeontologists share their tales from the field as they travel the world digging up dinosaurs. You’ll hear from:

Jake Kotevski, who researches Australia’s theropods – our meat-eating predators and raptors. Jake’s main field sites include the Cretaceous coastal sites of Victoria where we find ornithopods, turtles, and giant amphibians, and Lightning Ridge in NSW, where we find incredible opalised fossils and dinosaurs.

Adele Pentland, Australia’s resident pterosaur expert (reminder: pterosaurs are not dinosaurs!). Adele will talk about her experience running digs in Winton, Qld, and discuss her time spent on fieldwork in Brazil.

Sally Hurst, who runs the Found a Fossil Project – providing advice on what to do if you find a fossil within Australia. Sally’s main dig sites are based in Alberta, Canada, including Dinosaur Provincial Park, which is home to 5% of the world’s dinosaur species, including ceratopsians, huge herds of hadrosaurs, and tyrannosaurs.

This event is being put on especially for the Australian Heritage Festival.
